I've been kicking this idea around my head for quite a while now, and still think it's a decent one..."What if Zzap! 64 was still around today?" Wouldn't it be great to see a C64 mag on the shelves that just covered the new stuff (ie: as opposed to all the other c64 fanzines out there, it wouldn't be retro-based...why re-review Delta or whatever for the billionth time when you can concentrate on the new titles out or coming soon?)...a review team, letters by Lloyd...margin doodles...:) Bearing in mind there are more new C64 games released this year than N64 games...there'd be plenty of stuff to cover... So two questions to get talk happening... If Zzap! 64 / CF was never cancelled, what do you think it would look like today? Anyone interested in working on a Zzap! 64 v2.0 project in their spare time? :)

I think it would be about four pages long.. Obviously there would be very little advertising, which would mean it would look like Commodore Format did for the last couple of years (thinner than a supermodel) Not sure I like the idea of Zzap! being published now...Think it was perfect for the time, but I'm sure the new release games aren't groundbreaking like the ones 15 years ago? What would be good....If the ZZAP! team re-united and published a special one-off issue, maybe all the gossip and loads of retro reviews and tips etc.Mmmmm! |

Good idea that. Keep the same layout and design and it could be a breath of fresh air for computer magazines. A lot of older gamers would probably buy it as well, I know I would! :o)raz |

even though I was a big Zzap!64 fan, I wouldn't bother to buy the magazine nowadays. The only topic I can think of would be '"how great those days were back in the eighties"'. I can't see the meaning of reviewing those classics like Myth or Ghouls 'n Ghosts over and over again...Oh, a topic about C64 composers or graphicians would gain my attention though! Cheers, /Matt

Yep I agree, would be absolutely stunning! Like I said in another message tonight... who was the connections to actually get this sort of thing rolling?

Had Zzap64 survived it is likely that C64 coverage would have eventually given way to Amiga & PC reviews. To keep market share these days it would probably feature games reviews for a multitude of platforms. Anyone for ZzapPS2, ZzapGC, or ZzapXB? |

No, sorry I disagree - It wouldnt have featured other computers....Newsfield (or whoever would own it) would have simply launched a PC title if they wanted to cover PC games...ZZAP! would have died eventually, and I guess it did so at about the right time, as new releases were coming to a halt (and no I am not impressed by those SEUCK and similar titles) |

Hi all,ZZAP!GameCube! Now that's an idea! Something like ZZAP with its personality but bang up to date would be an exciting magazine. I'd review the odd game again (if someone gave me a Game Cube!). Not sure though about a wealth of product to review each month or if there were enough adverts to make for a bumper magazine. Nice idea though. Robin (Pig in a Poke) Hogg |

Well, Arcade came pretty close to the feel of Zzap!64. However, it was too good, so they cancelled it... |

Arcade was excellent, Why oh Why was it cancelled, Oh well the Edge/Pc Gamer will have to surfice. Could be that Future have had financial difficulties over the last year? |
