What do think of game magazines today? I don't think any of them even come close to capturing the feeling of crash, amtix or zzap. I saw a pc games magazine recently, utter crap! It was thick as a phone book and 90% of it was ads. Absolute rubbish. There was a definite buzz, community, atmosphere in the 8 bit magazines which no one else has captured since. :o(
Thoughts?

Arcade was quite good, but that's about it. Having said that, I don't really play games anymore, let alone read the mags...

one of the annoying things about the PC and PS2 games mags is the use of the four letter words and sexual references.
Zzap, Crash et al never stooped to that.

i know that most of 'us' that read Zzap etc are the ones now reading PSM2 and PC zone and the rest of them, and we are old enough to not be bothered by it (it doesnt bother me), but my kids arent. they want to read the reviews of the latest games, but they cant because a lot of the magazine is made up of swearing.
its a lazy way of writing if you ask me.

The Edge is the only one I read on an irregular basis at the moment. I used to read Arcade aswell but it got shelved, apart from that I get all my info off the web now :-)
