I just handed in the last piece of text for Zzap! 64 #107. Now it's up to the funky cats with the crayons to put it all together and make the world a better place.YAY! I just want to take the time out here to thank everyone who has given their time and energy over the past few months to make this project become a reality. You guys have no idea how much I appreciate your help. Special shout-outs to Gordon, Craig Grannell, Ant, all the review crew, the features team...um, now I'm really afraid I'm leaving anyone out. Rest assured I love you all! :) In some ways it only feels like yesterday since I made that "What do you guys think?" post and was overwhelmed by everyone's enthusiastic response...and yet it's been a long six months since then for everyone. I've had some laughs, some headaches and even made some new friends along the way. And, best of all, we all have a new issue of Zzap! 64 to look forward to in the next month or so. :) Now, if you'll excuse me, I have about three months of unanswered emails to get through... (and all the ones asking about #108 will be ignored) :) Gazunta Zzap! 64 #107 Puppet President http://www.gazunta.com

Just to add to the general cheeriness...I've just finished the last bit of editorial work tonight. After that, Craig's finishing the layout, we're checking the .pdfs, and the whole thing will be ready to upload to this site. Five bloody months! It's been fun, though... Cheers, Gaz. G |

Aaaaarrrggghhh!!! Just found out that my (very old) computer isn't capable of running Adobe Acrobat 5.0!!! Does anyone know where I can get version 3.0, so that I will be able to read this new ZZAP! issue? It'd be a nightmare if I wasn't able to read our hard work!! |

Which brings up the interesting question... what's the minimum version of Acrobat you will need to view the new Zzap? Everyone will have at least 3, though I have 4, and some people may have 5... |

You'll probably need Acrobat Reader 4 to view the new Zzap!64 (seeing as that's what I'm using to output from InDesign). You'll also need patience, as the download is going to be, erm, a little on the hefty side.Anyway, just four pages left to do now, including a suitably 'fishy' outro... :) |

I'm going to experience something of an "image dilemma" when the new Zzap arrives. This is all down to the fact that since sending my photos for the reviewer sketches, I've had all my hippy locks cut off (and shaved that silly "beardy" tuft on my chin). I simply won't recognise the sorry individual in the drawings! Erm...just thought I'd share that with you all. Think I'll go for a bit of a lie down now... |

Well, just *four* pages left to do now, which is the outro and the 'history of Zzap!' article. It's a bit of an eclectic mix of styles actually, as although most of it is 'classic' Zzap!, I've gone very 'Markie' on the outro. ;) |

Time to get all sentimental ...I'd also like to give Gazunta a heartfelt round of applause for all of his hard work and, of course, for coming up with this insane idea in the first place. I hope we can continue our Cerebus diatribes post-Zzap! To Gordon - thanks for the encouragement, patience and good humour. It's not often that someone can live out a childhood fantasy, and as corny as this sounds, a certain pimply kid used to dream of working with the Zzap! crew. You've made one slightly pimply adult very happy. Craig G., you seemed to get the short, spiky end of a rather nasty stick. You were always slaving away, trying to piece together the bits that made it your way long after others had completed their parts. Hard but fair, it was a pleasure submitting art to you. Well, maybe not a pleasure, but those times you didn't yell at me were pretty damn sweet. :) All the lads who sent me zany pics - though I'll probably be in therapy for a while, I had an awesome time doing the reviewer head sketches. I hope you like 'em (and see some sort of resemblance - assuming you haven't cut your hair and shaved ;) ) and, after Zzap! 107 is officially released I'll send each of you the final scanned images to have your wicked way with. And to all the other contributors, thanks for letting me be part of this great team. I'm still amazed that we managed to pull it off. Man, can I talk some crap or what? :) Ant Zzap#107 Art Dept. |

Ah, but it's flowery, sentimental, well-meaning crap, and that's the best kind!!I echo all of your sentiments though; this has been a remarkable project as far as I am concerned. If someone had said to me any time in the last 10 years that there would be a new ZZAP! produced, and that I would have the chance to be part of it, I'd have asked for some of whatever he was drinking. Now it HAS happened, and the results will be there for the world to see. There's a definite sense of excitement in the air (either that, or I need to change the baby's nappy again....). Well done everyone!!! |

So Zzap!64 issue 107 will be avaialbe from the ZZAP! site he? Great stuff. I really admire the work of Gordo and all the team, much the same way as I did back in the glory days of Zzap!64 when Gordo, Kati, Maff and Paul were working there. Ah Those were the days.I've also heard of a possibility of a printed version being avaialble. If that happens, where will I be able to order an issue? Please don't say 'Back In Time' because I live in Australia. For this possibility, may I suggest Alan Bairstow for producing and publishing a printed copy version, as he does great work with his fanzine Commodore Scene. BTW, anyone know the web addy for the Commodore Scene website? |

The 'printed copy' idea rears its ugly head evry now and again. However, having done the design for Zzap!64 and having been involved with such stuff in the past, this is pretty unlikely. A mass print-run is totally out of the quesion due to costs (around £10k for this sort of magazine). A one-off might be feasible, but even then is will be pricey.Best bet will be to print a copy off yourself on a good quality ink-jet colour printer. I will probably be supplying five (count 'em) versions of the final magazine to Iain for the site, which will be as follows: 1. JPG version, as per the current Zzap!64s 2. Lo-res PDF, spreads 3. Hi-res PDF, spreads 4. Lo-res PDF, single pages (for printing) 5. Hi-res PDF, single pages (for printing) Spreads are best for on-screen viewing, as you get the articles as they are 'meant' to be seen. (You could also print this onto A3.) Lo-res versions will be for people who don't want to wait ages for the download, although the image quality suffers--get the hi-res if you want the true Zzap!64 experience! :) The JPG version will be for people who don't have access to Acrobat Reader 4+, or who have really old, ropey printers. |
