Or did you also 'borrow' them on the burrow?
Ta!
Rob
Hey! Do I look like a thief? :)

Anyway, if they are the same, I'll know (since I was one of the interviewees). If that's the case, I don't see any reason why they couldn't be borrowed again.

I actually tracked him down when I first started my site. I got his email address from either Rob H or Phil K (can't remember now), but he never responded to my mails (and I didn't want to push it so I let him be after a couple of attempts). From memory he was editing a Nintendo mag, but that was a few years ago now.

Yeah, I mailed him a couple of times, too. He replied once, saying he'd do something for the Zzap! Towers section of my site, but never got round to it. Last I heard he was working at the Total Games Network: http://www.totalgames.net/ -- but as you say, that was a while ago.

If it helps *anyone* here's some info I can add to all this...

E3 - 2001 & 2002 - I bumped into Gary Penn who was working here at the time: http://www.denki.co.uk/pages/home.html - Though he might not be there anymore since the demise of their biggest business partner - Rage. I could always drop him an email if it helps anyone.

I've also bumped into Paul Glancey a few times at ECTS and the last place he was working, was at EIDOS

Finally, my boss knows Ciaran Brennan pretty well as Ciaran is now a Director at Bastion (A PR & Marketing company, specialising in the videogame industry).

Not sure if the above info is of any interest - I hope it is though ;)

Thanks

George

Well I emailed all of the above for my 'interview project' last year, and Penn and Glancey were willing to be interviewed, but Mr Brennan replied saying something about not looking back over, so unless he has changed his mind, then I doubt he would be interested in contributing?

Gary is still at Denki, although he seems somewhat over-worked at the moment.

I take it he hasn't replied to your questions yet? ;)

He's sent me a couple of emails, but not the responses as yet. However, I'm not going to write anything without his input, as he's the link from early Zzap!64 to Issue 25ish (where Steve comes in).

I know Gary's seriously busy until the end of August, but I'm hoping he'll still have time to answer the stuff, as I can then write the piece before the end of the summer, otherwise it'll be delayed until October, due to my impending move.

Mind you, it's early days yet, and only you and Steve have so far responded with completed questionnaires anyway! :)

Reading this thread brought a smile to my face.

Regarding Claire Hirsch - last seen in 1987...well, Claire married then Activision supremo Rod Cousens, who went out to co-found Acclaim Entertainment and is now President of Acclaim.

I started working for Rod in 1995 and sorely embarrassed myself by asking him "what happened to the gorgeous Claire Hirsch?"

His response was "I bloody well married her" and we've got on famously ever since.

I remember seeing a picture of them both in some C+VG around 1987/88 (I have it, I'll go and take a look).
About the drooling: I don't understand all the fuzz about Claire, being "gorgeous"and all that. She doesn't look THAT special to me.
But then I'm spoiled, being married for almost 7 years with a REALLY gorgeous woman! Ha!
Once again I emerge from beneath a massive pile of paper which makes my desk groan to bring you the world’s most amazing posts.

Yeah, but seeing as Zzap!64s readership was almost solely teenage boys, I'm guessing almost any women in there was elevated to 'phwoar' status - especially in the earlier issues.

Claire still looks ok to me when I see the old Shadow Spiel sections - there was also another girl in one of the issue wearing a VERY TIGHT Addictive t-shirt and she had a cracking set of top bolloc*s! The boat was a bit dodgy - but you can always bag that can't you?

But back to Claire....what does she look like now though? It`s been a good 17 years, she's married, proberly dropped out a few sprogs, sitting on her fat arse watching Des and Mel with a packet of crisps!

And that includes Kati Hamza
