Aww, cheers mate, you wouldn't believe how long I've been trying to get hold of that pic!

And, with a bit of Photoshop magic, the tab-stained teeth and acne are but a distant memory!

And if anyone has any of the ones of me with Kevin Keegan, I'd be ever so grateful.

What can I say, I hark back to the good old days...

Just got in from a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon on the sauce, picked up a few of the old mags and suddenly remembered how dodgy the return of the margin characters were!

Used to sneak down to the Art Dept and Marky Kendrick (good lad he was) and meself used to come up with really dodgy stuff, totally over the head of the 'editor'.

Wish I had the one when we had them abducted by aliens, Colbys style - I think that was my last issue, but not sure.

The memories just keep flooding back.

Like Saturday nights at The Sticky Carpet, Ludlow's finest (and only) nightclub.

Not as good as garlic bread basket nights in London with Miller and Richardson though, eh?

Bloody hell Randy, you do write a lot of messages one after another! ;-)

It's very cool that you got to meet Zig and Zag! I hope it was before they turned kinda crappy. They used to be on Irish children's TV for years before they moved to England.

I'm awfully chatty at the weekend, nowt to do with having had a few!

We met them when they first started on Big Breakfast (that's the BB house) when it was still done by Evans and Gabby Roslin.

And yeah, it was pretty cool at the time!

The "abduction by aliens" of the margin characters happened in the last few pages of issue 50. I always assumed it was some subtle reference to Gordon and his team leaving en masse... and the not so subtle booby-trapped goat to get rid of Chuck Vomit...

Indeed. I don't like to play Mr. Knowitall, but Randy, you eventually could try and use the edit button at the top right corner of your last post when nobody replied to it (yet). Instead of posting xx messages containing one brainwave. 8)

</pedantic>

New to all this forum malarkay, so didn't notice that!

But you're right, bit of a pedant's corner there.

Alright Paul :D

I'm up to software development this that and the other right now and the last time I saw you was more than likely to have been in the City Pride and off my face :)

What you up to now?

Ello Gaz,

Haven't been in the games biz for a while now, unfortunately.

Went and worked for the Press Association for a bit when I got the boot from CVG, then things went a bit tits up, went a bit mad, me dad shuffled off this mortal coil and I ended up back in the North East, where I'm working in a little local firm as a jack of all trades accounts/DTP/you-name-it-I-do-it type of geezer.

Not ideal, but it pays a wage. Not much call for games journos up here, especially narky gits like me!

Still, I hold out hope that one day I'll be invited back into the fold. You never know!

Great to hear from you and that you're doing well, over the moon with finding this site, having a chat with the fans about the good ol' days and catching up with some old mates - heard from Whitta, for instance, who's still living it up in the States, jammy sod.

Indeed, it was very rude of Mr. Zzapback! But worry not, he's a Dutchman so you have to make some allowences for that! ;-)
