Commodore Force: what happened next?

Post by debit »

In an issue of Retro Gamer a few months back, they suggest "various online sources" say Future Publishing bought Commodore Force (presumably to take it off the market) after the publishers folded.

Any truth in it, does anybody know?

I'd like to see these 'online sources'.

As far as I know, no one bought the rights to Commodore Force. To do so would be pointless that late in the machine's lifecycle.

That's a mistake on Retro Gamer's part. Future were interested in ZZAP! when Newsfield closed, but would have "incorporated" ZZAP! into Commodore Format - effectively killing it off. I never heard of any interest from Future in continuing Commodore Force.

Hopefully they don't have any interest in it, I don't want to be removing C= Force stuff from the website! :(

Anyway, if they did buy it in March 1994, the CForce subs would probably have continued as CFormat subs, which definitely didn't happen.
