Scanning A3-pages

Post by Fredrik »

I'm thinking of saving a couple of my older swedish computer magazines from the mid eighties in digital format. The only problem is that they are in a rather large format, around A3 per page, and A3-scanners seems very expensive. I've searched around and found that some of Canon's scanners have a stitching function to put together two A4-scans to one A3 (among those for instance the 8400F) and was wondering if anyone here has experience of that function or has any other tips when it comes to scanning larger format than A4. Thanks!

Well, I scanned in some of the later Zzaps / CF which were bigger than A4.

I scanned each page twice (far left and far right) and joined them together in Paint Shop Pro. The results aren't great though, since the join is quite noticable :( I guess the straighter you keep the pages, the better the final result will be.
