Eh up, first time poster here.

Who is it that did the C64 Sub Zero demos, circa 1992, as shown on the Zzap64.co.uk site?

I founded the original demo group with a few mates and it kinda fizzled out when we went onto other things. I didn't realise it was kept going on the C64, although vaguely recollect an Amiga section continued.

After Sub Zero, I did a few bit and bobs for Cross etc, but then stopped coding in late 1992.
I've recently got back into the C64 again and am trying to learn everything I have forgotten :)

By the way, my handle was Toy back in the day.

So, who is it that continued to do Sub Zero demos??

That would have been me. I used the handle of Sub Zero but wasn't in or aware of a group with the same name!

It was a popular handle is seems, especially when Mortal Kombat came out. Every man and their dog was called Sub Zero! ;-)

Ahaa, I see. So that was just your handle.

The Sub Zero group name just stemmed from something meaning cool, but then we'd have cheesy tag lines like:

"Cooler than cool" and "Cooler than an ice cube" lol

I should download your demos and check em out. Got myself a 1541Ultimate 2 cart now, so that makes using a C64 much more fun and accessible.

Catch ya around!

Done any coding since then, specifically on the C64? If not, interested in returning to the scene?

Funnily enough, I just started dev on a new C64 game a few days ago. Very early days, as I've not programmed C64 since 1992. In fact, I've not done any programming since then, apart from Maya Mel scripting. So, as you can imagine, I am quite rusty.

I never was a 'proper' programmer anyway, but I am getting a buzz from returning to it.

I only quite recently got into the retro scene and got myself another C64.

How about you?

Well, firstly, apologies for 'hijacking' this thread about 'Sub Zero'!

Well he did get back into gaming on the C64 didn't he? :) (with Happy Flappy and now Paper Plane)

Co-incidence that I read this thread when looking for the They Were Our Gods and then saw an article about his latest game in Reset 5.

Paper Plane is a classic!! Very privileged to have Roy let us release it on the Reset cover disk :-)
