My little releases...

Post by andy vaisey »

Just wanted to share this with fellow C64 fans! I've been following the Hex Files articles on the Oldschool Gaming website and managed to produce a little demo. I've not credited myself with code even though I "typed" most of it because I was following examples written by Jason 'TMR' Kelk; in the end I had a few problems with interrupts and Paul 'Trooper' Green helped me out so I've credited him as well.

I did do all the visuals though!

The 'demo' can be downloaded as a .d64 image HERE...

Credits:

Code: Jason 'TMR' Kelk
Additional Code: Paul 'Trooper' Green
Graphics: Andy 'Sadly, No Handle' Vaisey
Music: Mark 'MTR1975' Ross

Apologies if this is a bit spammy, but I'm pretty chuffed!

Hey, great work, Andy. How did you create the graphics?

I drew the girl and logo in Advanced Art Studio (admittedly running in VICE), the sprites in some sprite editor I downloaded years ago and the font in Ultrafont+, again in VICE.

The progress can be tracked here if you're *really* interested... ;)

That was an interesting read, Andy. You've inspired me to get back into my own bit of coding.

Excellent! If you get going and you're game, keep an update of how things go. There is a section of the Oldschool Gaming website forum for ongoing projects - you can ask for help as well, if you need it! The section of the forum I refer to can be found here:

Another plug! This time, no coding by me (the code is by Paul 'Trooper' Green again), but I did the picture. The tune is by Matthew Cannon and was, so I'm told by Frank Gasking, going to be a new Ocean loading tune but never ended up being used.

A tribute to the Ocean Loader - what might have been if the C64 and Ocean had lasted a bit longer...
