Here Comms Randy

Post by Iain »

While uploading issues I came across Randy's Compunet article in issue 52.

It's fasinating reading about the world of Compunet now even although at the time I didn't have a clue what the article was about. It must have seemed like such a big world compared to the usual 1 or 2 lined BBS around at the time.

Any of you Zzap guys regulars on Compunet back then?

It seems there was a zzap chatroom on there as well. It would be interesting to see transcripts of those chats :)

Didn't the two Gary's spend a lot of time on Compunet? (I seem to remember seeing a photo of when they got the phone bill!). :)

I think Liddon did alright, there was a comms series earlier in Zzap's life.

If I'd known what the hell they were talking about, I probably would have gotten a modem way earlier, instead of in 1992 for my Amiga. Although I doubt there was a local line for Compunet in Dublin and even if there was, they charged monthly fees as well, so it would have been a no-no really. :(
