First ever Megatape (Time Tunnel)

Post by Fab »

(don't worry, I'm not requesting to put megatapes online...)

The controversial Time Tunnel Megatape (the one where Katakis should have been instead) was the first Megatape. There was a tape on issue 26, but that was called Zzap! Sampler. The first Megatape, though, did not have a number, it was just called Mega-tape or Mega Cassette. The following one was Mega-Tape 2, with a hyphen, and so on, until Megatape 6, which is the first Megatape without a hyphen.

Now a question. I have the Zzap! DVD, and there are just a T64 and 2 D64's of Time Tunnel. All other Megatapes are in TAP format. Now, it's true that a T64 or D64 is enough o play the game, but a TAP is better for preservation purposes, as it is more faithful to the original tape.

Has anyone the original tape? Can that person make a TAP dump of the tape? That's two questions, sorry

I think I still have the original tape but have no idea how to make a TAP dump?
Wasn't there a demo of something on the other side?

I quite enjoyed Time Tunnel. It was terrible but easy to complete and great to while away an hour in an uncomplicated, brain dead way.

So much spam.

I have enabled admin approval for new accounts now.

It means I have to okay a new account before they post, which is a hassle for them, but there's not many brand new users on this forum anyway, so it should be okay and it saves me the big hassle of deleting 40+ spam messages.

Good! Thanx Iain.

It is so dissapointing to see a whole bunch of new messages (yess, finally who post something!) only to find out that some stupid spambot messed up the board once again. It's sad.

Ta!
Once again I emerge from beneath a massive pile of paper which makes my desk groan to bring you the world’s most amazing posts.

He was actually referring to a spam message that was posted after your one, which I have since deleted. Hence the weirdness and confusion! :)

It was rather confusing. Glad the spambots have gone though.

BTW, monkey10101, do you still happen to have the tape? If so, would you mind recording it to WAV and uploading to a site such as Megaupload or some other large file exchange site?

Well, admittedly the WAV method is not the best one to create TAPs, but with good-quality recordings and some Tapclean-ing the TAPs turn out to be good anyway.

Get the .tap file from this page -

xxxxxxxxxx

Not sure if it's the original tape image though it seems pretty boring. Just a standard Novaload with no loading graphics or music.

Off the top of my head Frankie goes to Hollywood had one of the best loading screens/music combo I saw on the C64

Edit. I removed the link above as I realised I may be breaking the rules of this board by posting a link like that.

I don't have the tape anymore. I've only got my disks now. Sold all the tapes off in one of my wife wants the loft cleared moments.
