just got home (from a relations wedding) today to find a grey plastic envelope with Zzap64 printed on it.

well done guys, and i reckon it's even better than the unofficial issue 107, but if only it was regarded as the unofficial issue 108...as while i'm holding it in my hands right now it's as good as for me, a casual reader 8)

and i'm still reeling from the shock revelation about paul sumner... i guess the clue was left in issue 41 where there's no mention of him leaving zzap towers

so how many more of you don't really exist? (not including lloyd mangram, the white wizard, the harlequin, chuck vomit, the scorelord, miss whiplash and tapeworm)

And so is my banana.

(As for 108, that's a separate kettle of boiled monkey waffles entirely.)

I don't exist.
I'm Iain Black's other side who keeps posting to get the board going.

Totally bringing up a long dead thread here BUT..

I was putting my old Retro Gamers into the nice new binders I just got for them and ended up browsing through the Def Tribute again.

What an amazing achievement! It looks and read so well, with so much interesting info contained within its pages, short interview with Chris Anderson and everything!

Well done again Rob, it's something that will be remembered for a long time I think! As valuable as some of the early Zzap issues. (I don't mean in a monetary sense)

p.s. Is it possible to fit 13 early Retro Gamers into the new binders? I have 10 in already (have to leave gaps for issues 4 and 9, which I still need to get) and it looks like 12 might be a tight squeeze, let alone 13!

Truly terribly sorry Iain, I thought I was quoting you but I was editing your post! Totally forgot about my mod 'skills' over at this part of the forum!
Am I banned now? Oh, btw, I was able to refresh your original message, so no actual damage done! Phew!

Thanx Iain! 8)
I'm also flicking through the DEF tribute every now and then, makes me smile too. It's a bit sad to laugh about your own jokes I guess, but I still think there's some funny stuff in it. (also because of Craig's excellent help) I think it was published exactly at the right time, I'd love to do something like that again, but I truly can't time/interest wise.

About the monetary remark you made, I saw a single DEF Tribute going on eBay for 18 quid! (I have a screendump somewhere) So...hehe. :D

Very honest of you to say. There's nothing to say that you did edit it. So I'll reduce the ban term from 9 months down to 6. (be a great way to make sure you never catch up on my message count as well!) ;-)

Wow, that's not bad, I assume you still have a batch of them, do you put some up on eBay every now and again?

Maybe I should put up a Z107 and go on a nice holiday somewhere! :)

I was re-reading the tribute a few weeks ago and it seems so impressive that it was made into a real magazine - lucky that Live got it out before they went bust! :)

Rob and Craig did a really good job on it - weird to think it was nearly three years ago.

Yeap, did not think it was that long ago!

And like you say Lee, we were very lucky to get it out the door just before it slammed closed! And who knows the "new" Retro Gamer may not have been interested in publishing it, since I'm sure it must have been a bit of an undertaking... all those extra pages to print but with no extra advertising revenue as such.

No, 12 is the most you'll manage into any RG binder despite there being strings for 13...

Ta! I can continue inserting the later issues into my other binders now. I didn't want to leave space for 13 in the first one, and then discover it couldn't hold 13 and then have to move the next 24 issues back one space. oh the stress of it!! x-)

Ah, I love a bit of thread necromancy. Especially when it's about Zzap!

I was lovingly browsing through 107 and the Def Tribute a little while back when I was reorganising the office. Truly an amazing feat, on both counts. I'm humbly honoured that I was a small part of it all.
