Screw Zoom

and Whatsapp and Telegram. I don't like you!
I wish they just stopped creating more and more application, and
make using them mandatory. No one should tell me what technologies to use.
First you install the apps, then you find that to increase the bandwidth.
I know a messenger protocol named XMPP (formerky Jabber). It is by far
less popular, but you can use it to communicate with users from other
servers. It is better than IRC, where if you came in the middle of
the conversation you would not miss previous messages.

This message was sent using the GUI-less web-browser 'lynx'.

It's a pity the open protocols of the Internet of yore have been "forgotten" about over the past couple of decades. Imagine how ridiculous it would be if you could only email people with the same domain name as yourself but that's the way IM grew and then video chat etc. :(

Zoom isn't mandatory, it just became high profile because high profile people are using it.

Even the UK Government. When there are serious security flaws in it.

When I say "mandatory" I mean that others choose it for me, and I cannot attend many meetings or events just because I don't have the application.
