Impossible Mission 2

While reading through a few Zzaps recently I read the review for IM2 - 96% was very generous indeed. While it had too much to live up to in my view - the original was perfect - I did'nt think it was worth more than 80%. A multiload, rooms where you had to die to escape from, a puzzle section that did'nt touch the original.

Gary Penn gave it 7/10 in CU - more realistic I thought.

Agreed, the tape sequences were difficult to work with and it was irritating the way you had to dial in the codes (as it kept showing FOUND if you didn't move the first number out, if you know what I mean)

But it was still a cut above other games and would have got a Sizzler from me.

I would not disagree with that. And the idea of having a different theme on each tower was a good one.

Strange how most of my favourite C64 games, IM, Bubble Bobble, Pastfinder, were single loads though.

I bought IM2 when originally released on the strength of that ZZAP review and found it tough as a 13 year old; I ended up not actually giving it that much play time.

I did revisit it during the mid-90's and, being a bit older, wiser and patient, I found a really good challenging and rewarding game. Perhaps not 96% good, but certainly high 80's in my book.
