Server Upgrade on Tuesday 13th December

Post by Iain »

The web and database server of the website are getting upgraded on Tuesday 13th December so this will probably mean the site will be down.

DON'T PANIC

Paths will change and database logins will be different so it'll be the evening until I get a chance to change files and things will probably be a bit buggered until [crossed out]next year[/crossed out] a few days later!

I woke up this morning and wondered if it was last Tuesday that the change was due to happen and I had forgotten and thus the site was down for the past near week...

Let's hope I remember it for tomorrow night! :) I'll get the forum back up first anyway.

When I have the newer versions of PHP and MySQL available to me, I really should upgrade the forum software as well at some stage!

Why's that? The look or the functionality?

I found phpBB2 *very* easy to mod and/or adjust templates.

3 is completely css driven and a pain in the rear end to get to do anything. Possible just hard work...

Upgrade happened. Forum seems okay surprisingly. Rest of site is a bit buggered :)

Will hopefully have time this evening to look at it!

[Update]
Seems some bits were updated automatically but not all (e.g. database names) so front page is back now and on a quick glance, things seem okay.

I'll check things better over the next few days

Zzap! Bible is down at the moment... every request ends up in the same reply "Internal Server Error - The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. - Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@zzap64.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred"

Oh ta for that Fab. Will look into it tonight. Silly me for not checking that, since it's an important part of the site!

[update]
Fixed now and did a search for any other scripts that have the old database name in them and found none so looking good!

Might be a script or two with dodgy path names in them though, although they should have been updated automatically and any I have seen, have been.
