The messages from the old UBB message board can still be accessed from here:

http://www.zzap64.co.uk/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi

Obviously you can't reply or post any new messages, they are just there for historical purposes.

Just noticed this was broken due to the server move. I have fixed path references and it's all good again.

Always interesting reading the old messages in there, easy to get lost for 30 minutes :)

My goodness!
The nostalgia!
I gladly spent over a hour on this trip down memory lane.
Cheers Iain!

It's funny how the old retro stuff is pretty retro in itself now! All very circular! :-D

Em, seems they don't work again. You can see the forums but no message threads being displayed when you click further. Will add that to my list... Might be time to try and just convert the messages to static HTML or something...

[edit]

Oh, that's handy, the threads are already generated and stored as HTML. It's just the list of them that's dynamic so potentially I could just hand create a list to them. Might be easier to fix the dynamic bit first and then just copy the output of that and set it in stone.

Ah, the joys of maintaining 18 year old stuff! :-D

The list of threads is on archive.org so I have decided to just copy them and strip them back to plain HTML.

Since the threads were always stored as plain HTML, I might as well fully convert the main old forum page and threads page to HTML and remove all the PERL code so it's easier to maintain.

Thumbs up to the Wayback Machine for saving me some time!

Okay, List of threads in the old forum is now back up. I've not fully completed my plans for them, but as far as you and your browser is concerned. They are now available again. :)
