New Version of phpBB

Post by Iain »

Just upgraded the board to the new release of phpBB. It was just released an hour or so ago and I've installed it already, no more messing around with outdated security hole versions for me! :)

The fact that phpbb has set up a mailing list for new releases also helps!

Anyway, if you notice anything broken or weird PLEASE tell me!

There's no new features just a few fixes.

Gotta be a first for me, I've updated to the latest version about 5 mins after getting the release email! :)

Pity I killed my theyfuckyouatthedrivethru.com site though when upgrading :( Seems I don't have premissions to ALTER tables in the DB, so the forum is down until it gets sorted, which should be quickly.

Thankfully there was no such problem over here, imagine being without the Rrap for a day or two? :-o

Another, slightly overdue forum software update. Let me know if anything appears to be broken and worry not, as I am still backing up the messages on a regular basis.

And just did a long overdue upgrade.

Again let me know if anything seems to be broken.

This will be the last upgrade of version 2 of phpBB. Time to start thinking about moving over to phpBB3 at some stage...

Wondered why I had to log in instead of it logging me in automatically...

Well seeing as you don't have too much "integration" of the forum going on with the main site template wise, that may not be so much of a hardship, but be warned, phpbb3 is CCS madness and a cow to implement seamlessly into a site.

Well, never mind the upgrade...

The whole site seemed to be down for ages the other day - at least it's back now and all is right with the world.

Phew!

BTW, the hit counter on the homepage seems to be up the spout?

Really? That's not good. Did anybody else notice problems?

I do have some phpBB stuff on the main part of the site, but nothing major, just comments for the game reviews and the news section and latest messages box on the front page.

When I tried to get on the forum the last couple of days, I was redirected to Google and told there was a DNS error...

Yup, there was no forum over here too. Until yesterday.

Not that anyone's posting something interesting over the last few months... :?

Well, because the actual site was down too, maybe there was a problem with the hosting server? Looks like it's ok now..?

Guess it was a temp problem, but having things down for more than an hour or so isn't a good thing. :(

It's on a fairly old server by this stage I'd say. Don't fancy the hassle in moving it to a more modern though.. but might have to at some stage...
