GameBox 64

Post by Iain »

After many nights of Mort and others scanning and me coding, GameBox 64 is now ready to go live. It is a collection of high quality, high resolution scans of game packaging including instructions, media and more. There is a large backlog of scans to be put online, so over with next week, lots more will be added to the site.

Has this been tied to Lemon yet? That'd make a lot of sense.

It was cool seeing the Eidolon instructions again. I forget they had the little story to acompany it.

No, it's tied to the Zzapbible, which I was thinking would be a good idea to tie to Lemon, I'll have to propose it to them soon.

Well, the place where I host the zzap issues, had an offer this month that I just couldn't refuse. Order 2 years of web space and get another 2 years free! and ad revenue for this site has gone up a fair bit lately, so I splashed out and ordered another 5Gb site, which will be handy for adding even more issues to the site.

When ordering the new package, I get a domain name free for 2 years, so I decided to register gamebase64.com :)

If anyone wants to scan drop me a line as we will have an easy way to upload very soon. All we ask are they are 300dpi and compression of 90% jpgs.If you can`t wait drop me an email and send them up onto the ftp with the contributers name to be put up in the contributers llist.

Here is the way the files need to be named to save Iain and myself headaches getting the stuff matched to the zzap database (mainly Iain he he he)

1. Check Zzap Bible for correct name
2. Title with (Name removing spaces with
_)(Publisher)(format(Tape,Disk,Cart))(Scan
type(Inlay,Instructions,Misc,Tape,Cart,Disk)

All new fields need a Capital Letter and multiple
scans need to be incremented by 1.

Examples of correct naming

GunshipMicroproseDiskDisk01
Yie_Ar_Kung_FuImagineTapeInstructions01 (inner
instructions)
PiratesMicroproseDiskMisc01 (map)

3.Scans should be saved as Jpg files at 90%

4.When all is scanned covert all images to 400*
whatever and put Small in as an extra field for Iains
thumbnails at the end.

GunshipMicroproseDiskDisk01Small
Cheers Mort

Hope that is ok, otherwise send them as is and I will rename them this end :)
