Non C64 game reviews

Post by Fab »

The Zzap! Bible on the site only covers C64 reviews, doesn't it?

If so, it would be nice to make a Zzap! Bible for Amiga reviews (I hope I can find a little spare time for that).

Also, were any other platforms covered by Zzap! ? The only one I remember is a feature called Zzap!C16 in issue 28, with short reviews of C16/+4 games. Anything else?

Hi Fab, nice to see you still around.

The Zzapbible on the site does only contain C64 reviews, Zzap had the pull out of C16 reviews you mentioned and of course Amiga reviews, but nothing else... unless you count that Oric 1 "review" in the Zzap from a reader once!

I am currently redoing the Zzapbible at the moment (on issue 24 at the mo) and adding more information like reviewers, linking multiple reviews for the same game together (e.g. full price, budget, compilation, round ups etc.) but no Amiga reviews.

I can give you the format I would want the data in and if you are happy enough to compile it, I can create a separate Amiga ZzapBible page to display the info and link to the review scans.

Would that be the 'Falcon' review in the letters pages? If so, which issue was that?

There were also arcade/pinball machine reviews although not always with a separate score.

Well, when my super duper new scan pages are done, you should be able to search for a feature type with a tag of joystick-review or something :)

Yeap that was the one. Very funny letter. Can't remember what issue it was in, but would have been post issue 40 since I read it the first time around of me getting Zzap. Probably in the Gordo etc. era... will look for it later if the boss goes away! :)

But here's the link anyway

As a bit of an update. There was also the odd review of Play by Mail games.

e.g. The Weapon

How strange they seem now... although they were probably quite strange back in the day as well ;-)
