Atom Syndication

Post by Iain »

Just discovered the board has a built in Atom Syndication feature (like RSS but better) so I switched it on.

You can now see the latest message threads / headers etc. in your favourite syndication software / web site.

The URL is http://www.zzap64.co.uk/zzap-rrap/feed.php

Spooky... I was installing an RSS reader on my Andorid phone today to read some other sites on the go.

I'll have to add!

Let me know how it works for you. When browsing the site, there should be an icon somewhere in the browser location bar (I think) but I don't see anything here in Firefox.

I entered the url of the feed directly into the reader on my phone and it worked perfectly first time!

RSS got a right kicking when Google Reader closed. And what's an Andorid?

Iain, quotes don't seem to be working. What did you break this time?

BBCode appears to be disabled.

Seems to be working for me. Is is set to off in your User Control Panel (Edit posting defaults)?

It's set to on in my control panel, always has been. This post will test if something has gone wrong for users...

Yeah, likewise. It's set to ON in my profile. When I come to post, on the left hand side it then says "BBCode is OFF, Smilies are OFF".

Em seems a strange one. I'll have to do some research on it...

I have manually switched it back on for your messages above but that's no solution. When I went to edit your messages the "Disable BBCode" and "Disable smilies" were checked.

The only thing I have changed recently is the turning on of ATOM and then purging the cache. Maybe the cache emptying has something to.

I could purge all sessions and people would have to log in again, which might help but before I do that:

Can you quote on a different forum (on this site!)? (maybe it's just something has changed on the Announcements forum - you can reply to a message somewhere and then delete the reply to test)

If you log off and then back on, can you now quote?

Testing...

EDIT: Nope... logging off and on didn't work. Still seeing 'code' here.

Off to try another part of the forum.

Other parts of the forum seem to work ok. Just announcements being affected it would seem?

Okay. Well that's good news anyway. I assume the lack of quoting has something to do with the restrictions on actions I have on this forum compared to others. e.g. only I can start a topic here, but I'll look into those permissions more and see if I can fix the quoting issue anyway.
