Sneaky Zzap! cameo ...

Post by Ant »

Was browsing through Edge #127 today. Flipped to the Prescreen Alphas section and was reading about Pure Pinball on page 48. Something about the lower-left screenshot caught my eye.

Take a close look at what's on the table left of the pinball machine.

:D

Yeah, someone on the Llama boards mentioned that... they are trying to figure out if it's a mockup or a real issue.

Hey! Well spotted, Mayhem!

No matter how hard I looked I couldn't figure it out.

I have to admit, I thought it might be the lollypop issue, and that was before reading Mayhem's message below it! The colours reminded me of it rather than the picture (it's a "little" blur anyway!)

Maybe it's nice to create a list of these 'Zzap surprises' in Edge.
They seem to do this quite often.
Actually, in all Edge issues that I have Zzap is at least mentioned once! ( I don't have THAT much issues but anyway...)
I wonder who in particular of the Edge staff is responsible for the ever appearing Zzap-link?
Ta!

..adn James Price is Yossarian, isn't he?
He was already present at the old board and he also posted some stuff over 'ere. Mmm. Interesting.

James is a freelancer who sometimes does stuff for Edge, but he's not a staff writer for them. And he still owes me for the long-awaited Pixelsurgeon piece (although nice bloke Gary Liddon just said he'll contribute, so yay!)

Hehe, and that's almost two years ago now.
Seen anything from 'nice bloke' Liddon? :D

Nah. The Pixelsurgeon piece was dropped in the end, because I really couldn't be arsed continually chasing people up for something where I wasn't getting paid for it. Funnily enough, I do still have the half-done piece on my hard drive, including answers from Paul, Steve (J), Gordon and Robin H. The original idea was to have a complete path from issue 1 to the end*, which would have meant also getting Gary Penn, Phil King, James Price and perhaps Ian Osbourne involved. Gary, Phil and James did agree to help out, but never got past saying "yes" (i.e. they didn't send any answers). To be fair to Gary, it sounded like he had absolutely no time to do anything back then. Also, I had no contact details for Ian, so he was never asked. Thinking about it, Markie was also to have been involved, but I lost touch with him about a year ago.

Maybe I'll pick this up again some day - who knows?
