Bin Diving

Post by alexhighnumber »

Driving up to the front of a carpet warehouse on Sunday I was just pulling into a space when my 'retro sense' starting going and my eyes were drawn to a nearby skip. My eyesight isn't great as I refuse to wear glasses but I could feel it was a NES.

Over to the skip and sure it was, with one pad, power + aerial cable and a zapper gun all loose in a bag - so I went home with that and a rug, my lucky day!

EDIT: Should just mention I got the rug from the shop - I'm not that bad!

Oooooh, you jammy bastard! I dream of finding something like that. The only thing is, what were the idiots doing throwing it out in the first place?

g.

Mind you, I chucked my Zzap! issues into the town dump, so I can't talk.

Well I thought it odd as it's not something you'd expect in a Carpet World skip! At first I thought maybe it was an old console thrown out from the carpet world break room, possibly being replaced by an old psone someone brought in? When I finally got home though and searched through the two plastic bags it was in I found a lot of other detritus that didn't make sense, from kids shoes to empty jewellrey boxes and soon after I noticed on the side of the NES was a partially ripped semi ledgible sticker - saying #ES & Game# + Zappe# ##0.00.

So with that I'm certain it came from a car boot sale thats held on a nearby carpark on the weekend. Quite why it was discarded I don't know, I had a look at some of the other skip bags and saw no sign of a bag of games (or any non carpet rubbish), so I'm pretty sure it was just the NES discarded. Your guess is as good as mine at this point!
