Got my kids (err...myself) a Gamecube!...and Donkey Konga :)

Post by Lloyd Mangram »

Hi guys,
this is the first time that I'm on the level with an 'actual' gamecomputer since my trusty C64.
(with my megadrive, snes and dreamcast I jumped it when next-gen consoles already were out there - oh well, the GC is pretty much 'over' as well, I guess :? )
Bought it new for € 99,- (+/- 60 bps) together with MarioKart.
And I picked up Donkey Konga with two sets of bongos!
Great fun I have to say, even my wife enjoys it, she kept going while I fell asleep on the couch. :D
Kids love it too.
At the moment I'm starting with Zelda and Mario Sunshine. I like it so far.
Only there's TOO MANY BUTTONS TO PRESS! Argh!
I have to admit: I love nintendo, they make excellent consoles and games.

Can anyone give me a hint for a excellent football and/or driving game?
Other recommendations are welcome too! (no fighting/shooting/creepy stuff please! )

Just wanted to share this with you lot.
Any other Gamecube owners around here?

Ta!
Rob

Yeah, I love my Cubie. Need to get some more play time in, I think.

And Mario Sunshine is excellent!
"Isn't this where ... we came in?"

Got my 'Cube for Christmas from my very generous younger brother...

Games I got are Mario Sunshine (excellent), Luigi's Mansion (good), Mat Hoffman 2 (excellent), Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (outstanding, with two modes of play), Tiger Woods 2003 (love the heartbeat when you hit a good shot), Starfox Adventures (only just started this one), Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex (as infuriating as ever, plus a neat GBA game to play), and Simpsons Hit & Run (I LOVE The Simpsons, and this is full of so many neat touches)

Yes, it came with the Cube.
I like it , but I'm looking for a more 'serious' racer. Anyone?

The GC is bereft of good racers, serious ones I mean.

My kids (aged 3 and 5) love Super smash Brothers. Its a fighting game, but a typically Nintendo one. That is, silly (Mario Vs. Zelda Vs. Starfox Vs. Pikachu), but incredibly playable.

the GC is probably the best 'Electronic Babysitter' in the world, ever. GBA SP excepted, of course!

Burnout 1 and 2? That or R:Racing Evolution. All the rest of the classic Cube racers are "non serious" (MKDD, F-Zero GX etc).

yes but FZero Gx imay not be serious but it's still a great game. And make sure you get Metroid Prime 1 e 2, easily the best games ever on the cube, and Animal Crossing to enjoy your new system completely.

Thanx y'all, looking for Burnout 2 on eBay (difficult to get hold of in Holland anyway. Might check out FZero, although I wasn't a fan of the SNES version. As for Metroid & co, well I'm not into shmups really, especially FPS. At the moment I'm having fun with Mario Kart. Lovely!
