Games that makes you SMILE?

Post by Lloyd Mangram »

Hi!
Games that make you SMILE :) Do you know the feeling?

Games that still make me smile when I think about 'm are especially those
which I used to play with my little brother, or with friends.
For example we had so much fun playing:

PITSTOP II
Remember? Pushing each other into the pits, bumping the others on the weak tires, rolling over the finish on your last drop of gasoline...
I remember my brother bumping me over the finish by accident while I ran out of gas just in front of it (especially on the USA track, which could JUST be made without tanking).
And the cramps, those CRAMPS, horrible, horrible! Ah, those memories!

ROCKETBALL
Excellent two-player games this one!
Scoring goals from the other side of the track was amazing.
Even better and humouristic was it to make the ball richochet form your enemies head into the goal. A pretty funny sight it was too, everybody cheering and one man on his butt in front of the goal!
Not to mention jumping in each other's back in the last split second while someone attempted to score :D Lovely, lovely.

DECATHLON
Pulling out your tshirt during the 10.000, oh boy. Sweating all over. Your neighbours breaking your fave joysticks

MARIO BROS
Ridiculously funny with two players all that bumping and jumping. Especially good fun when you bumped your '"companion" into a crab or something, or picking all the bonus-coins in front of his nose, har, har.

BOUNCES
Underrated game, me thinx. Superb with two players.
Just when you were able to stand up you got the ball shot on your forehead. Deng! And down again.
Sometimes we just let the ball bounce around and started some sort of swordfighting competition in the middle of the screen. And while loosing, totally out of nowhere you picked the ball out of the sky to shoot it at the other from less than 1 ft. Boing!
Unfair? Hey, this is Bounces man! Ha!
Fun, fun, fun.

What are your lovin' memories of fungames?
Rob

That stupid dance and music in Creatures 2 before you start a level always brought a smile to my face.

Sometimes when Ocean games loaded (Rambo normally) the loader music used to go all funny, me and my my thought it was hilarious, used to go all over the place, and then the game loaded.....a good 4 minute laugh...lol

I remember first loading Frankie Goes to Hollywood, seeing the loading screen with the four different symbols - then the tape stops at a 100 or something and NOTHING HAPPENS!!! Just the loading screen that I was staring at for 15 minutes! Damn - rewind, switch off and on, tru again - same bloody thing. Open the tape deck and get a mini screwdriver, pless play and turn that little screw a bit to the left - try again.........NOTHING!!!! Only after bringing it back to the shop and several failed attempts did I find out you had to press the fire button and the little man moves and the game starts! What a 24 carrott plonker I am - still makes me laugh

I loved little Computer People when the dog shimmied up the stairs, also when the guy has a boggie to the record (get down dude). 8)

Oh and also the way you could cheat on Rambo by pressing return to speed up the helicopter escape.

The game which looked like it reset itself was probably Briain Bloodaxe
Where`s my screwdriver, need to replace another 6581 Sniff

I had a similar experience with Turrican II. Because the vertical level is supposed to be a "surprise", I simply thought it had screwed up when I got there and couldn't get anything to happen (despite having loads of lives, natch); it was only later, when using an emulator, that I realised you had to go all the way to the edge of the screen before the level "started". Mind you, a hint wouldn't have gone amiss.

I think it was the intro to the PD game Mission Monday by Ash & Dave. The little guy pushing the screen away is definitely an Ash & Dave creation though (just not totally sure it's from Mission Monday).

Wow, haven't been here for a while...

Games that made me smile? Well when I was knee high to a grasshopper I used to love the games with a lot of blood in. Me brother and I would giggle when blood flew. Creatures is an example. Beyond the Forbidden Forest was funny because I would wonder about looking like a twonk looking for something for an hour... and nothing! Meh! Turns out I had to press a key or something (ta, guys). Sheep in Space was another, because the Llamasoft guy was obviously insane or tripping when he made them games. What else... oh yea. Me brother was one dirt mark away from completing Mrs. Mop, and the game crashed. My god, talk about frustrating. And I believe when you finish Rambo, it just goes up a difficulty level. Meh! lol And there were games like Nobby the Aardvark and Trashman where we would kill the hero on purpose, just for fun. Hee hee hee...
