Hehe, I'll try and clear some space in my schedule for 2013 then...

System 3 actually couldn't supply RG with any of the games

So Martyn asked me to supply the C64 versions... uncracked where possible. No doubt he downloaded the NES version somewhere. I'll go check it out now I know you wrote it Gary ;)

No sign of my sent copy of the tribute from Rob just yet though...

STILL no RG in my local WHSmith! Ironically they have had every other issue in stock..

Called in yesterday - "It'll be in tomorrow"
Called in Today;
Me - "I was told RG would be in today. I have to buy it from a WHSmith"
Sales Assistant - "Hang on I'll just check with the Magazine guy" (Comes back two mins later). "It'll be in tomorrow".
Me - "It's on sale in your other branches already and I don't want to miss this issue as I have contributed to the supplement. Can you get me one from another branch?"
SA - (Mouth wide open) "Er I don't think so. I'll just check. (Comes back two mins later). "No it'll be in tomorrow"

AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!

Why do I get the feeling that I will be the last person on earth to read (probably) the best ever issue of RG?

Came across this pic over at YakYak! :D

Isn't it ACE!? :D

(I'll photoshop it later  )

Btw, I also got a response from Roger Kean.
Hi Rob,

Thanks for sending the copy of the Tribute. It really does look
great, especially with the Rockfords and Thingies added in. And I love the
"Ludlow" card.
[..]
I think you deserve long rest after all that effort, but it was certainly
worthwhile.
Best
Roger

:D

I had to dodge lightning bolts to get to my postbox today, but it was well worth it. My ZZAP! Tribute arrived!

:D

I have to say, the difference between reading the PDF and holding the printed version in your hands is like night and day. Tremendous stuff!

:D

So, mail apparently reaches the US from the Netherlands more quickly than the UK!

This is indeed incredible!
Posted the same minute, and the USA was standard shipping!
Hold on tight Craig! I feel very sorry for you. :?

If it isn't in next week, I'll send them out again. Don't worry.

Just got home - 8.15 pm

Called in at WH Smiths in Birmingham after work and picked up a copy of Retro Gamer. It felt just like it did buying a new issue of Zzap back in the 80s - oh, the antici...pation. Couldn't wait to get home so I sat in St Phillip's churchyard and read the whole thing.

Well done Rob! Brilliant job! If I ever become Pope I'll be sure to make you a saint.

WHSmith finally got it! :)

All I can say is - WOW! It's better than I could ever imagine. The mag looks just as good (if not better) than the editions produced twenty years ago. It was a nice touch to include the original reviews along with our new comments (and good to see Gordon and Gary looking back too!).

I've literally just flicked through and haven't read any detail yet, but I'm well impressed!

Thanks to Rob, Craig, Ant, all the ex-Newsfield staff who took part and everyone else involved. I never thought I would see ZZAP! back on the shelves.

For what it's worth, mine also arrived today (at 7.30am, which, ironically, is about four hours earlier than the post arrives during the week). Frankly, it looks great—even better than I imagined after all of those hours scouring the PDFs, rewriting chunks of text, and then scouring again for further hours. The graphic design is pretty much flawless throughout, and—a rather personal point, this—I managed to spell my name correctly, unlike most of the magazines I write for! Hurrah! :)

So, yes, well done to everyone—especially Rob and also Roger, who went from initially saying he was OK with the idea to writing some stuff and doing some editing too. Above and beyond and all that! (Mind you, the ad at the back could prove useful—way more people are getting excited about Oli's book than before the tribute was out there, simply because more people are now aware of its existence. Spring 2006 can't come soon enough!)

Phew! Glad for all of you. Thanx and congrats Craig, we pulled it off! :D
Still shocked that Paul in the USA got his mags within 5 days at standard shipping. There's hope for Ant and Gazunta now to get their mags before 2006!
