Post by toniutti »

for those of you who might be interested, check here.

Nice to konw there are 256 color in the vicII now and that a seemingly passionate designer bothered to make the machine "expandable".

PAL version of the DTV on the way, apparently going to have extra features and hidden stuff, and a high level of compatibility (it can run demos like One-Der already!)

As I have said elsewhere, it's a pity they couldn't have got the PAL version into the shops in time for christmas - Oh Well! :(

I think it would have been much better with an LCD screen (preferably pixel-perfect size). Perhaps a Gameboy Advance size console with a compact flash card reader for d64 images.

They do? Arse I just brought one for my brother for Christmas, but he hasn't even opened it yet as he's away.

I wonder if they are reduced in their Irish branches? If they are dirt cheap, might be interesting to get one for hacking!

What's the price in Argos? It's still £20 on their website and not listed on the Irish one. Looks like I have to use the phone and run through their voice mail system.

£5 for one is pretty damn good! Even for a plain joystick thats good! Buy a boxload!

Its still £20 at Argos - I checked at the end of December as I thought they might have put it in their sale, but it appears not!

I would have bought more than one at TJ Hughes, but its my girlfriends mother who has bought it and I would have felt like a bit of a plank asking her to buy a few (plus no cash has changed hands at the moment!)

Have you tried their website Mort? It appears to be down at the moment (either that or its an incorrect url). Someone on another forum posted a link to the site and I saw it advertised...

T J Hughes are still selling this for £5.
You can get it from them through their ebay shop too here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/C64-Plug-Play-Joy ... dZViewItem
The version they are selling is the NTSC version.

I've also seen the NTSC version in some discount stores for about £9

The one in Argos is the PAL version.

Amazon.co.uk have dropped the price of their C64 DTV to £16.99 so that would be free delivery included. There's a 1-2 week wait though. I think they're selling the PAL version though I can't be sure as I haven't ordered one through them.

Igot one from TJ Hughes (in the end!) and...it doesn't work!

The picture is in Black and White (which is probably down to my telly) but the controls on the joystick don't work properly on certain games and some games won't start (the Hewson ones where '1 to Start Game' etc)...

Not sure if thats why they are selling them off so cheaply... :?

I've got one from TJ's too but it works fine. Hack a ps2 keyboard and 2 joystick ports to it!

I think they are selling them off cheaply as they know that they are ntsc and have probably had lots of people (who don't have a ntsc compatible TV) returning them because of a B&W screen.

Update:
Argos have dropped the price of their C64 DTV PAL from £19.99 to £14.99
Not much of a drop though half price (or less) would be much better.
