I was in the tips section

Post by Subculture »

My claim to fame lol, in issue 50 I was "Subculture from hartlepool" I can't believe I'd forgotten all about it.

Anyone else on the forum ever get printed in the magazine?

Great work with the site by the way, Zzap 64 brings back so many memories.

Also as an aside I was a huge DM fan in my youth and being printed on a page that had a little doodle of Dave Gahan in the corner is just too wierd lol.

I had my solution for the Space RPG Space Rogue printed.

I also had a score for IK+ printed too - in fact, I was top of the IK+ scores in issue 107! At the time (of 107) I showed my wife how a score I had sent off nearly 15 years ago had resurfaced in a new issue of a classic mag. I was incredibly proud, but she just thought I was sad........

(for the record, I'm still proud, she still things I'm sad....)

I'm pretty sure it was one of the ones we did. I can still remember looking at it in the Tips folder (and using it to help me with that fab little budget game :) ). It was a fine piece of work.

A fair few things over the years... mostly maps including Crackdown and Spike in Transylvania, though I also got in there first with the Creatures 2 guide (mainly because I had my copy sent directly from Thalamus weeks before anyone else got their mitts on it!).

I got some tips posted.... I remember being pretty chuffed about it at the time... now I cant even remember what issue it was and what the tips were for... all I know it was one of the last issues I ever bought (I had every issue upto that point)... I'm guessing it was 1988 or maybe 89.. i will have to check now!

Well... its amazing what you can find with 5 mins searching. I've discovered my tips were in Issue 45... I've also discovered that this was the last ever issue I bought... so I owned issues 1 - 45 back in the day!
The tips were for a game called deviants... a crappy little budget game if I remember. At the time i had a Commodore 128... i think I used the inbuilt machine code monitor and just found all the transporter codes using that!
