Sega Force

It's a funny old world. Playing Mario on a Nintendo DS took me back to the "good old days" in Ludlow sat with the editorial teams of the various Newsfield (then) Impact magazines. We had a great time. Smashing to see some of the ex staff still about. Just thought I'd say "hello", stick my two penneth in and let you all know that I remember the mags and the staff with great fondness. It never felt like a "job", it was always good fun and a pleasure to be around such talented folk. The journey from Wolverhampton to Ludlow and back every day was never a bind. Right, before I get TOO gooey (pushes sick bucket to one side!) I'll sign off. Best wishes all. Ade

Hello!

I'm not an expert on the various mags but your name does sound familar. Did you do any work on Zzap during those few months when a massive team was meant to be working on the various mags?

Hey, Aide! How are you doing? Still teaching these days?

And Iain, Adrian worked for Zzap! very briefly as Impact rose from the ashes of Newsfield. :)

Hello!

Post by Adrian Pitt »

Hello fella, certainly brings back memories all of this! I found an old picture of us all on the net yesterday, stood outside the mill. Blimey! How I've aged! Shaved head and few extra pounds here and there! Doubt if folk would recognise me. Do you know, it must have been over 16 years ago that I started with Newsfield, I'm 36 now - frightening!

I certainly did contribute to Zzap! as we were waiting for Sega Force to get up and running, I can't recall which issues though. I'm working for Connexions now, just over four years, the brand name for the careers service, although the staff I work with tend to deal with the young 'uns who have more issues going on in their lives than just careers stuff. I'm the Learning and Development manager, so, I train the staff to work with the youngsters.

I bumped into Rob Millichamp in Manchester a couple of years back, remember him? Paul Wooding was in touch not so long ago, but we've lost our thread again and I tried to contact Mat Yeo, as he's still in the mag business (funnily enough, I bumped into his mum in a school where I used to work in Wolverhampton - small world!). I've been in touch with Danielle ("Woody") she sounds good.

What you up to these days? Ade

Shaved head? You're not losing your hair, are you? :D

I'm currently working for Datel, in PR and on the website, and living in Stafford, Staffs. I've also put on a few pounds over the years. Well, about 4 1/2 stone, to be precise! Still recognisible from that pic of me aged 22, outside Case Mill.

Last time I saw Matt Yeo, he was editing a LEGO in-house publication. What's Rob doing now? He was a film planner and later a Commodore Force staff writer back in the day. I went to the Ludlow Medieval Fair (part-organised by the mayor, Graeme Kidd) last November, and met Jon Bruford, who is now editing a casino magazine as a freelance, and living in Ludlow once more. Carl Rowley is still in Ludlow too, but he no longer works for Graeme, apparently. Not sure what he's up to now. Warren Lapworth is working from home in Birmingham for Roger and Oli, who now run Thalamus Books (in Ludlow, natch). I met Warren in Birmingham a few years back, and went for a beer. Weird meeting someone purely by chance like that.

Are you going to be brave and post a recent picture of yourself? :)

It is a small world...

....isn't it?
How's it going Ian?
And Adrian... Blimey, I doubt you'd remember the likes of me (Bruford), I was on SNES Force for nine issues or so under Mr Christopher Rice, who recently got married, with Charlie Chubb as his best man! Great wedding it was too.
Just thought I would chip in and say hello, anyway... Hello!
I just remembered - I bumped into James Beaven (sp?) maybe two years ago in a supermarket in Hammersmith, he's hardly changed - co-running his own PR agency, if I remember right.

Yep, ten years at least! :)

Last time I saw you, you were driving cars for a valeting company, or something like that. You used to creep up behind me in the street and sound your horn to make me jump. :)

What are you up to now?

Eeek - you know you're getting old when the YT boy is now the wrong side of 30!

I still have contact details for Nick Roberts, Phil King, John Bruford, Barnaby Page and Warren Lapworth. I have an email addy for Carl Rowley, but it's a little old and I'm not sure it works any more.

If you have a message you want passing on, PM it to me.
