You mean you've scanned all the other Zzap issues? I'm currently completely scanning in Issues 11 to 16 of Commodore Force (Zzap 101 to 106) and there's another guy who has issues 1 to 6 done. For issue 2 do you only need the center pages? I can do that alright. Do tell us more! |

I have only a couple of issues scanned so far namely 1-3 but have waited to do the rest when I got the elusive missing pages.(you would not believe the amount of boot fairs I have traversed in vain looking for the central pages of 2). I have already done a speccy and C64 Trivia cd with inlay scans etc and thought a zzap or crash cd would be a good idea, possibly you could have a different complete issue every week on your page! That would be popular addition to your site also it would mean I could leave the issues and use the cdroms instead so they stayed in good condition.I would send you a copy on cd rom as soon as the monumental task was finished.Cheers |

Mort... if you find a full complete copy of issue #2 in your travels, think of me... I would like one as my current copy is also missing a few pages. Will pay good money for a complete issue #2 now anyone out there! |

It takes an age to scan in the whole magazines doesn't it? Especially the wider newer issues, since I have to scan in each page twice, which is not fun. What sort of size are you scanning them in it? Myself and the other guy were doing around 900 x 1200 with a saved file size (JPG) of around 500K.A Zzap CD would be a great idea, although if you were using the above stats, each CD would only hold around 6 issues! I do think it's a very good idea to have all the issues on CD eventually though, as paper fades eventually, although will anybody be interested in a magazine called ZZap in 50 years? x-) Due to bandwidth contrants I couldn't put the scanned pages up on the zzap64 server but there's nothing to stop me throwing them on my old Fortune City page. I probably should do that when I've scanned in more issues of Commodore Force and upload them from CD in work. I would hold off on scanning issues 4 - 6 as somebody has done this already, no point reinventing the wheel! There's plenty of other issues to go! :)

Iain, Thanks for the reply,If you could email me the middle of 2 or send me the details of the guy who did 1-6 to save you the effort I could then get started and work out a decent way of compressing them(until I get my DVD Writer that is!)cheers |

Let me get this straight...You've converted the entire magazine to Jpg's? ALL the issues? Are they stored as jpg's or in a large PDF file? I'm asking this because PDF might be a lot more useful for this sort of thing. Anyway, if someone manages to put the entire series of Zzap on CD (or more). Put me down for a set. :) |

cattvk, I have not yet scanned all the issues in but I am currently working on a feasable way of scanning them all.At the moment the entire set would take about 15 cd roms! someone has already scanned in crash issue 1 which took 5mb and was nearly all b/w!Part of the reason I am doing this is the fact that these magazines are pretty rare as most of my friends who bought them as teenagers have disposed of them in moving out of home or getting married! and they would like copies again. Thanks for the positive feedback as it will be quite a job! |
