Hi chaps, Time to get a discussion going. Does anyone want to nominate a game which was so crap that they couldn't put it down. Obviously with the c64 there are so many terrible games that your spoilt for choice. To get the ball rolling heres my nomination; Secret of Kandar....(shudder) Never in my wildest nightmares have I played a game as dismal as this. Truly gut wrenching graphics, sound effects which had me immediatley reaching for the volume, atrocious game play. This crap game obviously cursed me into playing constantly for hours upon hours. So come on, post your nomination and the winner might receive a tea bag, a hand rolled ciggarette and a copy of the Sun. The losers get to experience their nomination all over again on an emulator! cheers

So many crap games, so little time...... Remember the Boulderdash games really disappointing me, with their great reputation and all that. As they didn't involve shooting anything i couldn't get into them! |

Good stuff Kev, Boulderdash is definately up there in the playable crap games (PCG) league. Truly horrible, no questions about it. I don't think the atrocious secret of kandar can compete with this abysmal piece of programming. Come on folks theres a fantastic prize up for grabs! Don't let Kev run away with it! if your not in you can't win! The playable crap games league is as follows1. Boulderdash 2. Secret of Kandar |

I thought Aztec Challenge was pretty crap. I played that for ages just because I enjoyed laughing a lot!Mind you, I liked Boulderdash! |

Ta Bazza! Your recommendation is good enough for me, aztec challenge has reached pole position. With time to reflect, perhaps I was a little hard on boulderdash. It's probably not in the same league as the secret of kandar(shudder!), but still an absolute turkey nonetheless!Great excitement on the PCG table, who will win, who knows, who cares! 1. Aztec challenge 2. Secret of Kandar 3. boulderdash

Now Iain really, I just won't tolerate this type of attack on the PCG table! ;) If you want boulderdash removed then you need to nominate a really crap, but strangely addictive game!! Come on zzapers, there must be one game you remember which was so bad you could never forget. I can think of loads!(just about every game I bought for the c64!)PCG Table 1. Aztec challenge 2. View to a kill 3. Secret of Kandar 4. boulderdash

Remember some terrible games having that morbid addiction, the kind that mean't you didn't even enjoy playing them but couldn't stop yourself! Talladega springs to mind, and Inspector Gadget... |

Exactly Kev,I'm talking about the type of game which you saved up a months pocket money for and it turned out to be crap. Obviously due to the large investment and refusal to believe it was a turkey, you felt compelled to play it!Inspector gadget fits the bill perfectly...rubbish cartoon, abysmal "game". Great excitement on the PCG Table. Inspector gadget has deservedly gone straight to number one. 1. Inspector gadget 2 Aztec challenge 3. View to a kill 4. Secret of Kandar 5. Talladega 6. boulderdash |

sorry about the double post! Christ almighty, I haven't seen this many turkeys since last Christmas! All these crap "games" are giving me nightmares...I can't sleep at night thinking about them! Biggest Jim, I think I remember playing last v8. Was it a sideways car driving game, where you fired rockets up at UFO's? You have to admire the programmers of this rubbish, they just jump right in and declare, I cannot make a good game! Look upon my work and despair! Truly terrible its refreshingly bad, just as well it came free on a zzap cover tape! It looks like a two horse race between inspector gadget and the dismal last v8. Who will win...what tension! Keep those turkeys coming! PCG Table 1. Inspector gadget (uurrgh!) 2. Last v8 (delightful!) 3. outrun (luaghable excuse for a game) 4. Aztec challenge 5. View to a kill (confusingly bad) 6. Secret of Kandar (shudder!) 7. Talladega 8. boulderdash 9. World Cup 86( pitifull) 10. Cassette 50 (so many crap games) 11. Knucklebusters (The name knucklebusters screams turkey)

I can't believe anyone would put Boulderdash in a list of crap games. Like Tetris, it's a game that truly transends the ages and is as good now as it was then. Who cares if the graphics are iffy. To be honest, I preferred the way it was built with character blocks instead of sprites -- it made movement much easier and made it *your* fault if you screwed up.Aztec Challenge was also a pretty good, playable game, although not in the same league as BD... |

hmm.... well BD is in no condition a crap game!!! anyway... there were games which were made on a small budget... though its not a strong alibi... but still... they kinda deserved to be a bit on the lousy side. BUT, the real crown goes to THOSE games... those hugh budgeted games... THOSE loooooong awaited ones... with previews after previews of screen shots in zzap... and when they finally made it... they wre TOTAL crap... now one BIG example is.... WEC LE MANS!! i mean, eveybody should own this one... just to see how a game is NOT made!!! |

Double Dragon - I was such an intense fan of the arcade game that I couldn't help but play the atrocious "conversion" anyway...rotten buggy graphics, hopeless controls, boring gameplay, all the fun of the original gone...So what's the prize? A signed copy of Zzap! 64 #107? |

Hey Gazunta, on the other hand, I played Double Dragon II like death, really. Sure the first game was crap. Me being a 14 year young bloke looking out for THE release (that's hat they pronounced) of the year... Double Dragon 1 for the C64, what a waste of money 'n breathe that was :(/Matt |

How about the turkeey that was Afterburner? Sit in the top corner for most of the game to win. Also, a game that I thought was truely crap, but could never get enough of, was The Way of the Exploding Fist. Simply use the forward sweep continuously to win. I played it forever! |

Afterburner truly deserves a place but way of the exploding fist was superb!! The only bad point was the sound fx. Come to think of it there were loads of terrible fighting games on the c64...some bad memories which spring to mind are Hercules slayer of the damned(urgh!), shanghai karate(urrrgggh!) and of course double dragon.raz |

I know what you mean kev! last week I used a c64 emulator and played some of the "classics". No joking, I was lucky to survive more than five minutes in any of them! All these games are rock hard, nearly ripped all my hair out on cauldron 2...aarrghh stupid game!! I remember playing these games for hours and doing really well, must be getting old.raz |

Hmmmmmmm. I remember buying 'The Sentinel' because Gordo was ejaculating everywhere about it. Loaded it up. It was poo. I still don't know what was going on. Jack Attack was very playable caca, as was Gavin Raeburns 'Gunrunner'. 'Last V8' by Codemasters. Could never get past the second level but the digitised speech kept drawing me in, I found it amazing. |
