Hi lads, it's a little TOO quiet over here!! So let's do some opinion-swoppin'! What was your favourite part of Zzap!64 ?? (besides the fab review-section that is!) Come on let us hear your deepest thoughts!Personally, I luuuurved the Zzap Rrap (surprise) Even though LM never seemed to have existed, I loved it! Still re-re-re-reading all the rraps, someone has a favourite letter? Or is there actually someone on line who had letters printed? (which ones?) Let's make some noise here! Cheers , Rob

Yeah the Rrap section was good, certainly the funniest part of the mag.I enjoyed the tips sections also. Typing in 100+ lines of code and praying you didnt make a typo.. looking at Oli Freys marvelous maps (even if I didnt have the game!), and going back to long forgotton games to try out a cheat poke. And of course the reviews! There wasnt much about Zzap I *didnt* like really |

Well, I didn't like Tamara Knight, and I didn't like Terminal man, for example. Loved the maps too...remember the map for Antiriad? |

After the reviews, Rrap was definitely my fave section. I also liked Shadowspiel for all the 'insider' gossip. This would be a mucch shorter answer if you'd asked what I DIDN'T like about Zzap. (the back cover, as it meant I'd finished reading it) |

I enjoyed the Reviewers challenge and the behind the scenes articles. The other main highlight was the anticipation of the next masterpiece cover by Oli when I rushed down the newsagents to get the latest copy :-) Did anbody else check the newsagents twice in a day around the release time to see if the latest issue was in? |

Yep, Mort! That's me! After school I rushed to my local newsagent, and.. boy was I dissapointed if it still wasn't there. (you know in Holland we also had this DELAY and all that!) Especially in the middle of 1987 I was really feeling sick waiting for the next zzap! Strange hmm?? Strange odd feeling! By the way, oh man I almost forgot: indeed! The zzap-challenge! Wasn't it great! You know, I knew that I never -ever had the possibility to actually GET invited or TO BE THERE (being a teenager who never would get permission to go to the UK all alone) but oh boy, READING the zzap-challenge with all those kids dropping by at Ludlow, almost felt like being there, you knew it was actually POSSIBLE to hang out with those COOL guys like Jaz & Gaz. SO COOL! It was a major dissapointment seeing that zzap started organizing reader vs reader challenges, which didn't interest me at all. Personally, I wouldn't have wanted to compete that way. I mean, playing the challenge without any zzapper in sight? Wotta dissapointment. Even a bigger shame was that the challenge dissapeared for such a long time, it was really such a GROOOOVY item. Phew, that brings back some memories... nevermind! |

I liked the reviews, interviews, news and Zzap Rrap most of all. I never liked the challenge, as I always thought it was a bit boring reading a description of someone playing a game.... |

CREATURES by ACP and Walker's Way (Making of Citadel) by Martin Walker. |

The budget reviews were the best as I never could afford a full pricer....bah! The diary of a game was good as well. I remember martin walkers citadel diary, it sounded like an excellent game. Did anyone play it, was it any good. cheersraz |

Oh damn, forgot all about the 'diary of a game' thing. That was DEFINATELY my favourite. If it wasnt for Andy Braybrook I may not have been interested in programming... and that my career now. So thx Zzap64 :)Anyone that reads Edge should also know that the 'diary of a videogame' in Edge was also my idea - I suggested it to them on a form (bcos I enjoyed the Zzap one so much) and the Edge column started a few months later. It was all my idea... no really.. HONEST! ;) |

sorry generex its just raz ;) Anyone remember a truly pitiful letter they once read in rrap. I remember reading about this chap who blamed his c64 for not having a girlfriend. Double funny letter especially the replies it got. And what was the story with that bloke waz warren pilkinton(Christ I still remember his name!)He was always writing in about music hacks and stuff, dedicated bloke he was. |

Hey Matt, yep, I found my way to the lemon-site too, For quite some time already, only I'm using different names, and only sometimes my (Ebay)-name. Yeah, it's fun. I heard that Gordo was on Lemon too, but I never heard anything from the man, so far?! Cheers, Matt |

Luvved the Reader's Challenge, i must admit! The spiel was good funny stuff and you could see the horror and concentration on the faces of Gaz and Rigger! |

>I heard that Gordo was on Lemon too, but I never heard anything from the man, so far?!<I still go there every day, just to read the (usually) interesting stuff that people talk about; just as I come here every week or so (the flow of messages is less regular, as you guys know). But I don't post on Lemon much at the moment because I'm busy writing; and I haven't registered here until today, right now, in the last 5 minutes. I'll probably post again once I've finished my novel, but for now, hello, and, er... goodbye? The Fat One is watching! btw, I'm wondering if Yossarian is Dan Gilbert, too. My Where are they Now page is poised to expose him! G

The best part of the ZZAP was the multi-opinion games reviews themselves. The multi-opinion part was a winner with me, bcoz i think this is how you really get views from people of different tastes..so that a game does not get poor rating just because one of the reviewers does not like the genre itself very much. |

I totally agree. It amazes me that no-one has bothered to do a similar multi-opinion format since Zzap! and Crash died... |

Well, Mean Machines and Official Nintendo Magazine carried on the tradition - since Julian Rignall was behind both of those mags it wasn't a shock to see them as "Zzap! Console". I think in the days of magazines freelancing out their work and all that, it's hard to organise a multi-reviewer review. Also I'd say there was an effort for other magazines NOT to be like Zzap / Crash / Mean Machines multi-review / personality-driven style. Still, there's no doubting it works. And #107 is going to prove it :) |

...I liked the overall 'feel' of the mag which seemed to be opitomised by the way it was run by a bunch of twenty somethings giving vent to their egos. Everyone involved felt like a slightly older mate - it was a laugh basically |
