Hi Dimitris, Hi Gordon, Hi y'all.
Indeed, the 'crash-cover' archives are perfect!
Came across a couple of NIFTY covers.
I had this idea:
why not (at last) give Delta the credit it deserved when it hit the shelves 14 years ago, and turn it into a major "hype" in our upcoming issue?
At last ' the revenge of Delta' or something.

I checked it all out again: (digging up some old mags)
CU rated it:graphics :9
sound :10
toughness :9
endurance :9
value :9
COMMODORE USER SUPERSTAR!
As far as zzap was concerned , the ratings for presentation (97%) graphics (92%) and sound (97%) went skyhigh, up to GM standards, only to be stabbed in the back by hookability (79%) lastability (63%) & value (72%) and an overall score of 74%.
The lastability-rating was and still is laughable, because I'm playing it for 14 years now, and loads of other people with me!

So, fellow zzap-contributors, IF WE COULD TURN BACK TIME (ooooh, I haaaaate CHER!) yes we can, and do some JUSTICE! (it's a sort of back to the future thing...or something)

There would be some perfectly fitting covers for Delta, for example:
crash 37, top gun flies in! (VERY cool cover)(I know it's a plane and no spaceship, but still quite an ACE picture!

Or on itself "issue 59 playing tips supplement"-cover (down at the bottom-right)
VERY NOSTALGIC!
As far as the rest is concerned I like the covers: 9 & 21.
Has Oli been contacted yet?
Can't we use the original drawings instead of having to clean up the crash-ones?
Let us all brainstorm!
Cheers
Rob

Well, with Delta it's very much down to personal taste, and I think they got it just about right the first time (maybe a teensy bit low). The game relies ENTIRELY on memorising patterns, and there are a lot of people who don't have the patience for that, so it COULD get boring to them. I often used to play Delta and pause it just to listen to the music, because I wasn't all that great at memorising the patterns. Maybe I'm in the minority though.

Oli would have to be paid to do a new cover! :)

As for Delta, I thought it was *over-reated* the firt time round. It looks okay, and sounds excellent, but is severely lacking in the gameplay department. Personally, I would have given it around 60%...

CU were always taken in by presentation more than Zzap!64.

I agree with the original review completely; graphically and sonically stunning, but severely lacking in the gameplay department (sorry Jim!). If you want a shooter that gets EVERYTHING right, look to Armalyte. Superb graphics (actually BETTER than Delta's), great sound and fabulous gameply. This doesn't need to be re-reviewed of course, as that's pretty much what Zzap said when they reviewed it.

If you want to talk about underrated games, why not re-review Krakout? :)

Yep I agree with that. Great to look and hear, but a pig of a game to play at times...
