I go away to Paris for the weekend and all bloody hell breaks loose with the new Zzap!64 project! How typical... anyhows, some questions: 1) What should I do to confirm my participation? CraigG mentioned a Yahoo address to email, should I do this? And what do I do about any Yahoo news group feature? I can only get news via Google on Compaq's network. 2) What's this Zzapback messageboard I've seen mention? Is this the thing via Yahoo? 3) Has ANYTHING been confirmed yet, or we still in a state of flux on what is going in? Would my proposed article for "C64 gaming 1982-2001" be too large a task, or something we could split over a couple of issues if the possibility of #108 is real? 4) Besides myself, Gordo and Craig, has anyone else got games industry writing experience? 5) I think that's all for now, unless I think of something else. Oh, and I do think that no one can complain about any of my top 10 games don't deserve to feature somewhere in an overall "best game" list :) |

Also, if anyone wants to contact me directly about the project, then you can email me at [email protected] instead of the registed address I always use for messageboards... |

> 1) What should I do to confirm my participation? Email Gazunta to confirm, and join the Yahoo group, which will be for offline discussion (so as not to spread the contents all over the web prior to launch!) Send an email to [email protected] > And what do I do about any Yahoo news group feature? I can only get news via Google on Compaq's network. You can access Yahoo groups online or get emails (or digests) sent to any email account. > 3) Has ANYTHING been confirmed yet, or we still in a state of flux on what is going in? Gazunta is going to be compiling a features list once all the ideas are in. This is going to happen by the end of September. > 4) Besides myself, Gordo and Craig, has anyone else got games industry writing experience? That kind of depends who decides to write! I won't actually be doing any reviewing, although I will (if it gets in) do a one page article on C64 music (mostly concentrating on the CDs such as Back in Time). |

Yeah, what Craig said. :) As for games industry writing experience: http://www.gazunta.com <- check the "What Is A Gazunta" section to see what I've done so far... - Gazunta |

The ZzapBack Message board was at "http://www.w2s.net/zzap/wwwboard/index.html", but it has lost any real activity. If you check it out, you'll see some posts from Ex-Zzap staffers |

Cheers for that... Gazunta can take a confirmation of my participation from this post now without having to worry about emailing him for now :) My email address is listed above in the thread. As for the Yahoo mailing list, I send a mail to that address, but do I do anything else? Such as put "subscribe" in the header or body, or just an empty mail will be enough? I've been on many lists, and they've all had their own way of joining... |

Im starting my (Proper) games-writing experience, Mayhem, this week for Gamestyle.co.uk Getting free Dreamcast/PS2 games from the developers and reviewing them, arrh bliss plus reviewing old games, Life is good! Lee |
| CraigG |
Mayhem -- just send a blank email to that address and I will 'okay' you to join. |

That's how my games reviewing went as well Lee... I'd talk to the guy in charge of the computer page at Oracle about what games were out, he'd get onto the publishers and they would send them to me to review. And I kept them all. And often I got them earlier than they appeared in the shops (especially First Samurai, had that 8 months before it finally appeared!). Will send a blank email there to subscribe. What email address do I use to send posts to the list after that? |
| Mayhem |
I've actually decided to apply using the current Yahoo ID I have which is "MayhemNaboo"... so recognise me from that instead. Will use the board to check msgs there instead of via email... |
