| BIGGEST JIM |
Hi zzap-people, where have all of you been the last couple of days? Certainly not here! Right, what about some comments on your favourite Oli Frey zzap-cover? Personally, I wasn't too fond of the 'blood & guts' sort of shock-covers. (issue 2,4,13,18 f.e.) Although I liked the kinda-raw issue 17 cover (knight-games), probably because it was my first zzap-impression (& issue). My all time favourite cover has to be issue 29, the californiagames cover, the guy with the skateboard, very cool indeed. One of the most dissapointing covers to me was issue 44. (xmas cover/thunderblade) Interesting? Anyone else? CHEERS Rob (biggest jim) |

#3 was always good... |

Definitely the Knight Games cover (#17). The Forbidden Forest one (#18) comes a close second followed by the Zombie one (#13). |

Yep, Mayhem, I do agree on 3, beautiful cover. So is 11, mercenary. rOB |

My fav has to also be issue 3 followed by the Mercenary Cover then lastly the forbidden forest cover. But in my opinion all the covers are classics, not to be repeated unfortunately in the Computer Magazine Market sniff |

hmmm.... #2 and #3.... definitely very good. In fact i always liked the very first issue's elite cover! really gave the feeling of ZZAP! and errr.... come to think of it... #107 was pretty good too? eh? dontcha think me furballs? ;) |

2 -- Wipe Out 3 -- Dropzone 7 -- Paradroid (really menacing) 10 -- Eidolon 20 -- Gauntlet 36 -- Dan Dare The early ones were the best, I think. The worst were *all* the Christmas specials, and maybe the Pac-Land issue, which I know Jaz hated. But I kind of like it... G. |

3 was always my personal fave, hence it ending up in Iain's article. As for 107, I reckon it was a pretty cool cover, although I don't know how many people realised that it was effectively an 'all new' piece, having been based on an old pic Oli did for 2000 AD and subsequently mangled by me :) |

Was it meant to be something "Rogue Trooper"ish then? |

Sorry Gordon? *The worst were *all* the Christmas specials* I don't agree on that one. smile, Rob de V (biggest jim) |

Not quite the same I know, but my favourite piece of Oli art was the reverse of a large Combat School Poster. On the reverse it had a big battle scene with men on flying horses. Does anyone remember this, is it available anywhere??? |

Mayhem--I thought this had been mentioned on the Yahoo! group? Anyway, for those that want to know, the Zzap!64 107 cover was mostly based on a Rogue Trooper pic that Oli did for 2000 AD many moon ago, which was totally recoloured and edited fairly heavily. The background partly comes from that, along with bits of ish 30 (I think--the SEUCK one) and some other explosions he did. I added a few extra lasers, too. :) The Zzap!64 logo was totally redrawn by me, as was the red strap on the left. |

i thought the forbidden forest cover was fantastic - i loved all the blood n guts covers but the leaderboard cover was very striking and very clever too - it must have got right up CCI's noses! i remeber being disapointed when Impossible Mission 2 came out that Oli didnt put it on the cover he could have done a brilliant pic of agent whatsisname falling to his death. |
