Can I use the files downloaded from this site on an actual C64 machine?

Yes, the .prg files on the 500+ game pages are actually standard format C64 files and once tranferred to a C64 disk or the computer itself (using a lead form your PC to 1541 or C64) can run straight away.
The other files such as .d64 and .t64 can be converted to a regular C64 file or as in the case of .d64 can be copied over to a complete 1541 disk. It's all easy enough to do once you have the lead and a program like Star Commander.
