I know this idea might sound a bit sad and predictable but after reading about the recent 'reclusive' nature of Lloyd I wondered if anyone had any idea to the whereabouts of the staff writers of Zzap during the early years. I read it from day one and remember opening up each issue thinking ...'blimey who is in charge this month?'. Great site by the way.

Well check out the staff pages for a few interviews with old staff and also the links page where Maff Rignal has a site called "Where are they now" which has a good number of interviews and details on ex Zzap staff

I think I'll make an addition to my last comment.
A lot of the staff are working at Paragon publishing, which is a relative new magazine publisher but seem to have grown quite fast. Phil King for example is editor of one of their Playstation magazines.
Ian Osborne seems to have written a lot of game tips book for Prism as well.
