Oliver Frey, Paul Rand and I think Robin Hogg popped their head in there a few times. Any chance of those guys getting involved?

Oli I emailed recently -- no replyRobin Hogg has left the industry and I don't think has much interest any more in it (I've also emailed him recently, but he's got a child now, and I think he takes up most of his time) and as for Paul Rand... again, he's a bit reluctant to get involved. However, I've emailed Ciaran Brennan, Gary Penn, Paul Glancey, Steve Jarratt, Gary Liddon and Nik Wilde. So far Paul G has replied, saying he'll do stg if he has time. G |

I think IGN is PART of Snowball, or the other way round... certainly the IGN site uses Snowball's message boards... |

Ha! Did we? I almost worked in there after the WH Smith next door made me redundant. They were offering £50 a week and my own "The Computer Shop" jumper. Having experienced how mad it was in Smith's on a Saturday (and over Christmas too - shudder!) I wasn't that tempted. Is that place still there? I haven't been up for a while. I can't believe it would be. Paul. |

by the way whsmith has gone now too. it's a birds fashion shop now.can you remember going into the fenwicks computer dept on a saturday as a kid and spending all day fighting off other kids to play on the coleco vision, vectrex intelavision and the atari 2600.....? |

Hehe....I remember all those things too (I'm a Geordie too)....and I also remember being in Fenwick's and waiting for aaaaages to play on the "Fire!" Game And Watch! Fenwick's was a madhouse on a Saturday, there must have been half of the North East's kids in there trying to play the games, what a laugh.Another thing I remember was that, from day one, PG was a fave reviewer of mine when he said he was a fan of Yngwie Malmsteen!!! There aren't exactly millions about, and some that were then definitely aren't now (I still am, though), but when I read that I thought he was great! |

Who the heckity-heck is Yngwie Malmsteen? At the risk of losing a fan (not another one!) I don't think that was me.I used to go to Fenwicks after school with my mates (we went to school in Benwell and lived in Forest Hall so we went through the town on the way home) just so we could mooch around playing free 'Spaceys' for an hour. That must have been around the Christmas of 1983, when they had that vast games department with all of the Galaxy Invaders, Space Intruders, Astro Wars, etc. LCD games, and the Colecovision playing The Smurfs (which was amazing at the time), and Zaxxon (which was really, really amazing at the time). Happy days... sort of. I can't believe WH Smith's has gone! Paul. |

Hey, it's Paul! :)Welcome Paul. One of the few Zzap!64 people I failed to meet at some point in time. I got to see Jaz, Gaz, Oli, Gordo, Maff, Robin Hogg and even Lucy Hicknall, but not you. Ah well. You still had a job I wanted to do :) Maybe soon... if the pay has gotten any better and I am out of a job after Compaq merge with HP...! |

Oh bugger. That's what I get for not reading ZZAP! for years. Still, the fact that one person at The Towers was a fan was the icing on my ZZAP! cake, and PG is a Geordie, so he's still aalreet in my book! 8-) |

Incidentally Mayhem, and those who are interested (even Gordon doesn't have this info on his page), Lucy HickMAN, also went to EMAP and briefly worked as Editor of Mean Machines Sega before jacking it all in and studying to be a barrister.By the way, Alex, haven't you been working on a game? I understand it's the best racing title since Pitstop 2? PG |

TWO other Malmsteen fans?? Outstanding!!! Perpetual was indeed the name....I think Robin might have meant Trilogy though 8-) Yngwie's still going strong, I've got all of his albums....I think his popularity waned somewhat in England and America, but it's growing in other areas of the world, luckily for me, coz that means he keeps making records! |
