Just wanted to get an idea who would be interested in the completed scanned set of Crash , I am over halfway through now (issue 59, got all the cover tapes etc ) Also what did all you guys that got the ZZaps cd`s think of them, It is hard for me to be objective after 2 years :-p Thanks for all the positive help from the gang of Mayhem, Sir86, Jules etc who helped make them possible :-)

HelloYeah I would be intrerested in CRASH (even though its an evil speccy mag), but Im a retro mag freak!. How many issues are there of it in total? If you wanted me to do a Quality Assurance check on the stuff you have already done, why not slap it on a cd or two and send it to me. I would make the time to go through all the pages. BTW my post seemed to get lost about the ZZAP CDS, They are brilliant, and have so much on them. You got it just right. And those binder scans are so cool. My desktop has the side binder scan tiled across the screen, It looks like a whole bookcase full of zzaps, Im really happy! One question, How about doing Commodore User, that would then be the 64 totally covered. Post me back about the Crash QA checking King regards Jules

Thanks Jules, obviously you could have the cd`s that little bit cheaper for doing the Beta testing as such, I am at issue 62 at the moment out of 98 so expect an update in a couple of months. Thanks Mort

Just a quick update to state progress/mia bits: Just scanning issue 90 in at the moment, so I should finish all issues in the next week or so! Then all I need to do is find the following: A scan of the codemasters tape with issue 89 (ie a picture of the actual tape) and the inlay scanned in (front and back). A scan of the front of a Crash Binder And lastly a rescan of the Deathchase review and the Puffin Books advert on the other side of that page in Issue 1 and the Ultimate advert/ Underworld map/ Bruce lee map which came with Issue 16 ( I hopefully may have these if Matthew Wilson gets his off ebay soon, these are all the central pages). Then its a case of collating the issues in a coherent manner, checking for c*ck ups (bound to be in 10,000 pages ) writing the cd`s and posting the good news that the Job is done, so I recon an ETA of about 1 month will be about right. Thanks for all the encouragement and help so far from you all, Mort Oh I am trying to get Sir 86 to do a Crash related inlay as he made such a good job of the ZZap one :-p

Just received the ZZAP! scans CD - sensational job, Mort. Can't believe how much extra stuff you added. The LM issue 0 was particularly funny! For anyone who wants a full set of ZZAP!s without having to scour EBay and devote a large bookshelf to the binders (assuming they can actually get binders), this is an essential collection. (That reviewer's style - I still got it!) Cheers Mort, Paul. |

Crash. For the Sinclair Spectrum. The precursor to Zzap!64. Newsfield started out as a mail order company but decided to get into game journalism, starting with the Spectrum. Following the success of Crash, they choose to launch a similar style magazine for the C64. And the rest is history... |

Iain, is trying to get some more web space at the moment, Issue 1 of Crash is included with the ZZap scans Cd`s as a sort of Sneak Preview/look at the Speccy side of Newsfield and how ZZap was developed. Speaking of the Crash Cd`s, All Issues are now scanned!!!! I am now tying up the loose ends, collating various extra`s such as all the Jetman strips, King Grub, The SU years( when they took over!), Posters, Tapes, The Crash History, and some surprises!! Eta 1 month :-) |

Mort - just out of curiosity, did you put 107 on the Zzap!64 CDs? |

Yep, I put all 4 versions on the cd`s to save server usage ( so we didn`t lose another!). Plus you can`t do a complete guide to ZZap without the last issue can you :-p |

I am now in the final checking / writing stage of the Crash Cd`s, those who have forgotten, I have scanned in all 98 issues with bonus extra`s like all the cover tapes thanks to Andrew Barker,Jim Grimwood and co. The whole set will be on 5 cd`s and available in a few weeks for £20 including P&P (can`t be bad for 6 months slog by me and 10,000 odd pages scanned!) Nearly there now, just waiting for the inlay piccie from Sir and a Pre Crash Mag to scan in as a reference point, (I anybody has a 1983 or earlier Sinclair User or C&VG could I borrow it to scan please :-))
