Happy 30th Birthday Zzap!

Post by Iain »

30 years to the day, Zzap!64 was born, bursting upon the C64 scene and making sure it was never quite the same again.

Chris Anderson replied to my birthday tweet on Twitter. I feel as giddy as a schoolchild after 10 old style Wham bars! :-D
Chris Anderson ‏@TEDchris
@ZZAPRRAP Goodness. That was a whole other life. Fun days, though. The precursor to Future Publishing....
He also retweeted my original tweet to his 1.68 million followers! Wow a lot of people will now know about Zzap who didn't before. Will they all be able to handle it? ;-)

I was just thinking about that. Is the FB Zzap page mentioned on the site apart from the older messages? Probably not.

I really need to get a banner for the site with little twitter and FB icons on it (amongst other things). Are you bored and looking for some Zzap unpaid work? :)

How does this trending thing work? Re tweets etc. with the #zzap64 hashtag?

It's probably been said somewhere and I've forgotten over the years.. but if Newsfield was already in Ludlow by that point, why did Zzap!64 start up in Yeovil for three issues?

It was down to Chris IIRC, he didn't want to move to set up Zzap and I guess things came to a head after a few months. It was a bit mad to have one of their magazines set up so far away from Ludlow really.

Happy birthday, Zzap. Sometimes I wish I was around to have seen the glory days... thank god for scans, then.

Same here, I got to it just as the glory days were coming to an end. Although I did complete my collection before thing on eBay went too mad, although they have calmed down the past couple of years.
