Just browsing around eBay and I noticed a Zzap issue 1 at a current bid of £52!!!
Don't think I've seen one that high before, although with issue one of Retro Gamer going for £21, I guess it's not too suprising.

I was watching this item and was initially prepared to go up to maybe £30! It's INSANE what people are prepared to pay. I blame Edge Retro et. al. for giving items a false sense of importance. Or something.

It's strange alright that Zzap's go for so much these days.
I guess some of the blame must lay at my door for having the website and getting people more interested in zzap.
But then again, you'd think the availability of the scanned issues would reduce interest in the paper originals.
I'm just glad I completed my collection a few years ago before all this madness!!!

Last year I threw out a small NEC word processor/laptop type thing. One of the two that a lot of the early ZZap's and Crashes were written on. There's a picture of Gary Penn eating one in one of the making of zzap type articles. Could of got at least £5 for that. Oh well...

More understandably, an issue #1 of C&VG went for roughly the same price just now too...

Uh-oh.
I threw out issues 26-89 in the early nineties.
Cost me a small fortune to get issues 1-50 back together. (in the late nineties)
But issue ONE I got for 50p or so, some garbageman from around Abingdon sold me a copy he found 'somewhere'.
Ta!

So Long ago, you probably could have gotten a few thousand for that!
BTW, I hope there wasn't lots of disks with it that had all the text versions of every article in zzap?! :-E

Hmmm... I've still got the original brown C64 that was used in the photography department at Zzap! -- it even has "Cameron [Pound]'s 64" written on it.
That should be worth about £2.75.
